DWU track competes at Mount Marty TwilightPublished by
YANKTON, S.D. The Dakota Wesleyan University men s and women s track and field teams headed south to compete at the annual Mount Marty Twilight Meet Wednesday in Yankton, S.D. The Tigers had several strong showings, led by junior Skylar Forgey (Colome, S.D.) on the women s side. Forgey placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 18.02 seconds. The time was less than a second off the DWU school record set in 1986. Competing in a two-person field, freshman Morgan Aughenbaugh (Huron, S.D.) finished first in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 46:18.35. Other top Tiger women performances included sophomore Jessica Neises (Madison, S.D.) with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:10.24. On the men s side, freshman Scott Van Winkle (Tyndall, S.D.) took ninth in the 200-meter dash in 22.85 seconds, while also finishing 13th in the 100-meter dash in 11.66 seconds. The Tiger 4×100-meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 44.84. The relay team included sophomore Isaac Van Essen (Sioux Falls, S.D.), sophomore Gabe Dirksen (Lead, S.D.), freshman John Dosch (Plattsmouth, Neb.) and Van Winkle. The Tigers are in action next at the Zach Kindler Wildcat Open Saturday in Baldwin City, Kan., while junior Nicole Court-Menendez (Lewiston, Maine) heads to the Goshen Race Walk Invitational Saturday in Goshen, Ind.
