STORM LAKE, Iowa Jessica Fossum and Ariana Arampatzis each set a school record Saturday afternoon when the Dakota Wesleyan University track and field team competed at the Buena Vista Invite in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Fossum set the record in the pentathlon for the second time this season and Arampatzis set the record in the pole vault. Fossum scored 3,048 points in the pentathlon to win the event, set the school record and qualify for the NAIA Indoor National Championships. Her score is currently the best in the NAIA. She won the high jump (4-foot-7 inches), shot put (33-6) and long jump (17-0.5) and took second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.75) and 800-meter run (2:35.77) as part of the event.

Arampatzis recorded a leap of 10 feet in the pole vault to break the old record of 9-feet-10 inches. She took second in the event. The freshman also took fifth in the pentathlon with a score of 2,389. She finished third in the high jump (4-4.75) and shot put (32-3.5), fourth in the 60 hurdles (10.33) and the long jump (15-0) and sixth in the 800 (3:04.66).

Skylar Forgey recorded the third-best time in the 1,000-meter run for the Tiger women. She took second in the race in 3:12.31. Nicole Court-Menendez took eighth and recorded the seventh-best time in DWU history in 3:33.49. Jamie Geho took fourth in the 5,000-meter run in the fourth-best time in school history in 20:35.96, and Jessica Neises finished 11th in the 800 in 2:35.86, the eighth-best time in school history.

Freshman Brenna Martin recorded two top-10 finishes for DWU. She took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 35-feet-11.25 inches and 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 35-5.75 the seventh-best park in school history. Abby Fossum finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 33-6.5, the fifth-best mark in DWU history and Jessica Fossum finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 16-1.75. Shekela Quarles took 12th in the long jump with a mark of 14-3.75.

Ryan Antaya paced the Dakota Wesleyan men with a third-place finish weight throw with a toss of 44-2.5. Paul Apenhorst took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.98 seconds, the second-best mark in Tiger history. Jeff Sahli finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run and recorded the sixth-best time in school history in 16:08.72. Freshman Kellan Willet also recorded a fifth-place finish in the mile run in 4:43.74.

Dan Porter took third in the triple jump with a leap of 42-2.75 and Gabe Dirksen finished ninth in the long jump with a mark of 19-9.75. Teammate Isaac Van Essen took 12th in the same event with a leap of 16-0.25.

DWU is back in action and returns to Storm Lake Saturday, Feb. 8, for the Dennis Young Invite hosted by Buena Vista.
