Forgey, Tibbs perform strong at Red Raider OpenPublished by
ORANGE CITY, Iowa The Dakota Wesleyan University men s and women s track and field teams headed to Northwestern College for the Red Raider Open Saturday in Orange City, Iowa. The Tigers saw a number of Great Plains Athletic Conference teams at the event, as a pair of DWU runners came away with top-five finishes. Freshman Lane Tibbs (Kenesaw, Neb.) crossed the finish line in fifth place in the men s 5,000-meter run. He finished in a time of 15 minutes, 55.43 seconds, edging Morningside College s Sean Skillern, who finished less than one second later. Also for the Tiger men, freshman Scott Van Winkle (Tyndall, S.D.) had a strong day. He finished eighth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 52.01 seconds. Van Winkle added an 11th-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.70 seconds. On the women s side, junior Skyler Forgey (Colome, S.D.) had the top finish for the Tigers, crossing the line fourth in the 800-meter run. She came away with a time of 2:33.44. Freshman Morgan Aughenbaugh (Huron, S.D.) took seventh in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 46:58.56. The Tigers are next in action at the Sioux City Relays Friday and Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
