Tiger cross country competes at GPAC ChampionshipsPublished by
LINCOLN, Neb. The Dakota Wesleyan University men s and women s cross country teams ended their 2011 seasons Saturday afternoon at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska Wesleyan University swept the men s and women s team titles. The Prairie Wolves took three of the top five spots in both races. Doane s Edwin Ronoh won the men s individual title in 26:12.73, but NWU s Ben Paben and Jordan Rector took second and third, respectively. The Prairie Wolves Hannah Kinberg won the women s individual title in 18:23.47 and teammate Haley Sutter took second. Kayleen Gupman paced the Tiger women with a 72nd-place finish. She completed the course in 22:53.78. Aimee Lenocker took 79th in 23:34.53, Heather Banister finished in 23:52.67 and took 82nd, Amanda Burton took 83rd in 24:16.68 and Kailey Thomas finished 89th in 27:52.99. Dakota Wesleyan took 11th as a team. Freshman Trace Tjeerdsma paced the Dakota Wesleyan men with a 45th-place finish. He ran the race in 28:17.79. Mike Lynch took 54th in 28:41.93, Andrew Hernandez took 65th in 29:07.74 and David Elliott took 91st in 32:55.63. The GPAC Championships marked the final race of the year for the Tigers, who are a young team with just one senior on the men s and women s roster. Read the full article at: www.dwuathletics.com
