GENEVA, Ohio The Dakota Wesleyan University indoor track and field season came to a close on day two of the NAIA Indoor National Championships Friday in Geneva, Ohio.

Juniors Nicole Court-Menendez (Lewiston, Maine) and Skylar Forgey (Colome, S.D.) each performed on Friday in the final event of the indoor season.

Court-Menendez came into the event with four NAIA All-American honors on her resume (two indoor, two outdoor). She competed in the 3,000-meter race walk and finished in ninth place with a time of 14 minutes, 59.56 seconds, one spot off the podium. The performance was 38 seconds better than her personal best. The top eight performers earn All-American honors.

Forgey competed in the 1,000-meter run preliminaries on Friday and finished with a time of 3:10.08. The time was good enough for 15th place overall and fifth in her heat. The top-two placers from the three heats and the next two fastest times moved on to the event finals to be held on Saturday.

Nicole and Skylar had great indoor season,” DWU first-year coach Derik Fossum said. As coaches, we are proud of how they competed and worked. They represented our school well. They are both motivated to get back at it for the outdoor season.”

The DWU outdoor season starts at the Wayne State Invitational on March 28th in Wayne, Neb.
