BALDWIN CITY, Kan. The Dakota Wesleyan University men s and women s track and field teams split up and headed to two events over the weekend with several Tigers putting up strong performances.

DWU had athletes in six events at the Zach Kindler Wildcat Open Saturday in Baldwin City, Kan.

Junior runner Skylar Forgey (Colome, S.D.) took first place for DWU in the 1,500-meter run, crossing the line in 4 minutes, 58.04 seconds. She finished more than two seconds ahead of the next fastest runner. Forgey added a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.59.

Four-time NAIA All-American Nicole Court-Menendez (Lewiston, Maine) competed in the race walk for the Tigers as she prepares for her third straight trip to the national meet. She placed second with a time of 27:05.93.

Sophomore Jessica Neises (Madison, S.D.) ran in two events for DWU, taking ninth in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.01 and 12^th in the 200-meter run in 28.58 seconds.

At the 14^th annual Drake Alternative Meet Saturday in St. Peter, Minn., the Tigers added more strong showings. Freshman Scott Van Winkle (Tyndall, S.D.) placed fifth for the DWU men in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.20 seconds.

In the men s long jump, DWU got a fifth-place finish from Isaac Van Essen (Sioux Falls, S.D.) with a leap of 6.25 meters, while sophomore Gabe Dirksen (Lead, S.D.) took eighth with a distance of 6.04 meters. The men s 4×100 relay team took third with a time of 44.30 seconds.

The Tigers will next be at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Friday and Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
